Tallow Beard Balm Recipe

A nourishing beard balm designed to condition beard hair, moisturise the skin underneath and provide light to medium hold.

Ingredients (100g Batch):
• 35g Rendered beef tallow
• 20g Shea butter
• 20g Beeswax
• 20g Jojoba oil
• 5g Castor oil

Optional Essential Oils (0.5–1% total):
Choose one blend:
• Cedarwood + Sweet Orange + Patchouli
• Sandalwood + Bergamot + Cedarwood
• Black Pepper + Lavender + Cedarwood
• Frankincense + Sweet Orange

Method:

  1. Add the beeswax, tallow and shea butter to a heatproof container.
  2. Melt gently using a double boiler until fully liquid.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the jojoba oil and castor oil.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding essential oils.
  5. Pour into tins or jars and allow to set completely.

How to Use:
Rub a small amount between your palms and work through the beard, paying attention to the skin underneath for maximum conditioning.

Shelf Life:
6–12 months when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Notes:
• No preservative is required as this is a water-free product.
• Increase beeswax for a firmer hold.
• Reduce beeswax slightly for a softer balm.
• Tallow helps nourish dry skin and may reduce beard itch and dryness.
