Tallow Beard Balm Recipe
A nourishing beard balm designed to condition beard hair, moisturise the skin underneath and provide light to medium hold.
Ingredients (100g Batch):
• 35g Rendered beef tallow
• 20g Shea butter
• 20g Beeswax
• 20g Jojoba oil
• 5g Castor oil
Optional Essential Oils (0.5–1% total):
Choose one blend:
• Cedarwood + Sweet Orange + Patchouli
• Sandalwood + Bergamot + Cedarwood
• Black Pepper + Lavender + Cedarwood
• Frankincense + Sweet Orange
Method:
- Add the beeswax, tallow and shea butter to a heatproof container.
- Melt gently using a double boiler until fully liquid.
- Remove from heat and stir in the jojoba oil and castor oil.
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding essential oils.
- Pour into tins or jars and allow to set completely.
How to Use:
Rub a small amount between your palms and work through the beard, paying attention to the skin underneath for maximum conditioning.
Shelf Life:
6–12 months when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Notes:
• No preservative is required as this is a water-free product.
• Increase beeswax for a firmer hold.
• Reduce beeswax slightly for a softer balm.
• Tallow helps nourish dry skin and may reduce beard itch and dryness.
