Liquid Castile Soap Recipe

For experienced soap makers
800g Olive Oil
200g Coconut Oil
193.42g Potassium Hydroxide
300ml Distilled water
For dilution after paste is cooked
1-2 litres
Heat oils to around 60 to 70 degrees Celsius.
Carefully add Potassium Hydroxide to water
Add lye solution to oils and stick blend until thick trace
Cook on low heat (slow cooker) for 2 to 4 hours stirring occasionally.
Test paste clarity. Dissolve a small amount in hot water if, mostly clear it is ready.
Dilute paste slowly with hot Distilled water until you reach your preferred consistency.
Leave overnight for full dilution.
Add preservative only if adding botanicals or extra water based ingredients later.
Optional
0.5 – 1% fragrance or essential oil
1-2% Glycerine for extra skin feel.
Important Notes
Do not add acids (citric acid, vinegar) directly without recalculated as they neutralize soap.
Allow the soap to rest for 2 weeks for best clarity.
Please note Castile liquid soap is naturally thin and dies not lather the same as commercial soap.
