Beginner-Friendly Versagel Lip Gloss Recipe

Beginner-Friendly Versagel Lip Gloss Recipe (100g Batch)

Create smooth, glossy, moisturising lip glosses using Versagel as your base. This beginner-friendly formula provides shine, good pigment suspension, and a comfortable feel on the lips.

Ingredients:

  • 80g Versagel
  • 10g Castor Oil (adds shine and helps disperse colour)
  • 5g Jojoba Oil or Sweet Almond Oil (conditioning and moisturising)
  • 0.5–1g Vitamin E Oil (antioxidant)
  • 0.5–2g Lip-safe flavour oil (optional)
  • 1–5g Lip-safe mica or cosmetic pigment (depending on desired colour intensity)
  • 0–0.5g Lip-safe cosmetic glitter (optional)

Method:

  1. Sanitise all equipment and containers before starting.
  2. Weigh the Versagel into a clean mixing bowl.
  3. In a separate container, combine castor oil, jojoba oil, Vitamin E, and flavour oil if using.
  4. Slowly add the oil mixture into the Versagel while stirring gently to minimise air bubbles.
  5. Add mica or pigments gradually until evenly dispersed.
  6. Add glitter last, mixing gently.
  7. Allow the gloss mixture to rest for 30–60 minutes so trapped air bubbles can rise.
  8. Fill lip gloss tubes or jars.

Tips for Success:

  • For a thicker gloss: increase Versagel slightly.
  • For a thinner gloss: add a small amount of extra oil.
  • Always use lip-safe pigments, flavours, and glitter.
  • Avoid adding water-based ingredients as they can destabilise the formula.
  • Store away from heat to maintain consistency.

Shelf Life:

Approximately 12–18 months when manufactured under good hygiene practices and stored correctly.

This anhydrous (water-free) formula generally does not require a preservative, but cleanliness and proper storage remain important.
