Magnesium Oil Body Lotion Recipe (500g Batch)

 

Phase A – Water Phase

Distilled Water – 260g (52%)

Glycerine – 20g (4%)

Xanthan Gum – 2g (0.4%)

Phase B – Oil Phase

Sweet Almond Oil – 50g (10%)

Shea Butter – 25g (5%)

Emulsifying Wax (E-Wax) – 30g (6%)

Cetyl Alcohol – 10g (2%)

Phase C – Cool Down Phase

Magnesium Chloride Solution (Magnesium Oil) – 80g (16%)

Preservative – 5g (1%)

Fragrance or Essential Oil – 5g (1%)

Vitamin E – 3g (0.6%)

Lactic Acid or Citric Acid Solution – adjust pH to 5–5.5

Method

Combine distilled water and glycerine.

Sprinkle xanthan gum into the water phase and mix well.

In a separate container combine all oil phase ingredients.

Heat both phases to approximately 70°C.

Pour the oil phase into the water phase and blend until emulsified.

Continue mixing while cooling.

Once below 40°C add the magnesium oil, preservative, fragrance and Vitamin E.

Check and adjust pH to between 5 and 5.5.

Bottle into pump bottles or jars.

Notes

Add magnesium oil during cool down to help maintain stability.

This lotion is suitable for daily body use.

A slight tingling sensation can occur on sensitive skin.
