Donut Melt and Pour Soap Recipe

Donut Melt and Pour Soap Recipe

Make beautiful, colourful donut-shaped soaps with realistic icing and decorative soap sprinkles. These soaps are perfect for gifts, pamper hampers, craft markets or starting your own handmade soap business.

Ingredients

Makes approximately 4–6 donuts, depending on the size of your mould.

  • 300 g white melt-and-pour soap base
  • 50–100 g additional melt-and-pour soap base for the icing
  • 3–6 g cosmetic-grade fragrance oil, subject to the supplier’s recommended usage rate
  • Water-soluble dye in your chosen colours
  • Soap sprinkles from Fun with Soap
  • Bubble Go Spray from Fun with Soap
  • Donut-shaped silicone soap mould

Optional: Cosmetic-grade biodegradable glitter suitable for rinse-off products.

Equipment

  • Microwave-safe jug or double boiler
  • Heat-resistant stirring spoon or spatula
  • Kitchen scale
  • Donut-shaped silicone soap mould
  • Small jug for preparing the icing

Method

Step 1: Melt the soap base

Cut 300 g of white melt-and-pour soap base into small cubes. Place in a heat-resistant jug and melt gently in the microwave in short bursts or using a double boiler.

Do not allow the soap to boil or overheat.

Step 2: Add colour and fragrance

Allow the melted soap to cool slightly while remaining liquid. Add a few drops of water-soluble dye and your chosen fragrance oil.

Stir gently until the colour and fragrance are evenly distributed. Start with a small amount of dye and add more gradually until you achieve your desired shade.

Step 3: Pour the donut shapes

Carefully pour the coloured soap into your donut-shaped silicone moulds.

Spray a fine mist of Bubble Go Spray over the surface to remove bubbles. Allow the soap to cool and harden completely before unmoulding.

Step 4: Prepare the icing

Melt 50–100 g of additional melt-and-pour soap base.

Add your chosen water-soluble dye to create pink, brown, white or pastel icing. Add fragrance if desired, ensuring the total fragrance level remains within the supplier’s recommended limit.

Allow the icing to cool slightly so it thickens enough to coat the donuts without running off completely.

Step 5: Decorate with soap sprinkles

Place the unmoulded donuts on a clean work surface.

Drizzle or spoon the coloured icing over the top of each donut. While the icing is still soft, decorate with soap sprinkles from Fun with Soap.

Work quickly before the icing hardens. Allow the decorated soaps to set completely.

Step 6: Package your finished soaps

Once completely cool and firm, wrap the soaps in airtight packaging to protect them from humidity and help prevent glycerine soap from attracting moisture.

Your finished donut soaps are ready to use, gift or sell.
