LUXURIOUS NATURAL-STYLE SHAMPOO

Ingredients

Distilled Water – 594 g
Aloe Vera Juice – 100 g
Decyl Glucoside – 80 g
Coco Glucoside – 70 g
Lauryl Glucoside – 60 g
Lamesoft® – 50 g
Glycerine – 25 g
Panthenol – 10 g
Xanthan Gum – 3 g
Euxyl PE 9010 – 8 g

Total: 1,000 g

Citric Acid Solution 20% – q.s. to pH 5.0–5.5

METHOD

  1. Clean and sanitise all equipment, utensils and containers.
  2. Weigh the distilled water into the main mixing vessel.
  3. Mix the xanthan gum thoroughly into the glycerine until completely dispersed and smooth.
  4. Slowly add the glycerine/xanthan mixture to the distilled water while mixing.
  5. Continue mixing until the xanthan gum is fully hydrated and the base has thickened.
  6. Add the aloe vera juice and mix gently.
  7. Add the panthenol and mix until dissolved.
  8. Add Lamesoft® slowly and mix gently.
  9. Add the Decyl Glucoside, Coco Glucoside and Lauryl Glucoside slowly, preferably one at a time.
  10. Stir gently after each addition. Avoid vigorous mixing because glucoside surfactants foam easily.
  11. Add Euxyl PE 9010 and mix thoroughly.
  12. Leave the shampoo to stand until the majority of the foam has disappeared.
  13. Measure the pH using a calibrated digital pH meter.
  14. Adjust the pH to 5.0–5.5 using 20% citric acid solution. Add it slowly in small amounts, mixing thoroughly between additions.
  15. Allow the shampoo to rest for several hours or overnight.
  16. Recheck the pH and viscosity the following day.
  17. Once the formulation is stable and the pH is correct, fill into clean, sanitised bottles.

Appearance: Smooth, creamy liquid
pH: 5.0–5.5

Suitable for: Normal to dry hair and frequent washing

IMPORTANT

The exact viscosity will depend on the specific grades and concentrations of your Decyl Glucoside, Coco Glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside and Lamesoft®.

Do not keep adding xanthan gum simply to increase viscosity, as excessive xanthan can make the shampoo feel slimy or stringy.
