Beer Melt & Pour Soap Recipe
Ingredients
1 kg Clear or Goat’s Milk Melt & Pour Soap Base
100 ml flat beer (decarbonated)
20 ml Fragrance Oil (Amber Ale, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Oatmeal Milk & Honey, or your favourite scent)
5 ml Vitamin E Oil (optional)
1 tsp colloidal oatmeal (optional for a soothing bar)
Gold mica or bronze mica (optional, for colour)
Instructions
Pour the beer into a bowl and let it stand overnight until it is completely flat (no bubbles).
Cut the melt & pour soap base into small cubes.
Melt the soap base gently using a microwave (short bursts) or a double boiler.
Warm the flat beer slightly and add it slowly to the melted soap while stirring gently. Do not boil the soap.
Stir in the fragrance oil, Vitamin E, and any optional additives.
If desired, add a small amount of mica for a warm amber colour.
Pour into soap moulds.
Spray the surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove bubbles.
Allow to cool and harden for 2–4 hours.
Remove from the moulds and wrap immediately in plastic wrap or shrink wrap to prevent sweating.
Tips
Always use flat beer. Carbonated beer can create excessive foaming and bubbles.
Limit the beer to about 10% of the soap base weight (100 ml per 1 kg base) to maintain a firm bar.
Beer gives the soap a creamy, luxurious lather and adds natural sugars that enhance foam.
Pair it with earthy or spicy fragrances for a masculine-style soap, or use citrus fragrances for a fresh artisan bar.
