Glucoside Body & Hair Wash Recipe

Batch size: approximately 1,000 g

A glucoside-based cleansing wash containing Lauryl Glucoside, Coco Glucoside and Decyl Glucoside, with Lamesoft PO 65, glycerine and Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein.

Ingredients

Ingredient Amount
Distilled Water q.s. to approximately 1,000 g
Lauryl Glucoside 150 g
Coco Glucoside 100 g
Decyl Glucoside 100 g
Lamesoft PO 65 50 g
Glycerine 30 g
Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein 20 g
Xanthan Gum 3 g
Euxyl PE 9010 10 g
20% Citric Acid Solution q.s. to pH 5.0–5.5

Ingredient Percentages

  • Lauryl Glucoside — 15%
  • Coco Glucoside — 10%
  • Decyl Glucoside — 10%
  • Lamesoft PO 65 — 5%
  • Glycerine — 3%
  • Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein — 2%
  • Xanthan Gum — 0.3%
  • Euxyl PE 9010 — 1%
  • Distilled Water — balance
  • Citric Acid Solution — as required for pH adjustment

Method

1. Prepare the Xanthan Slurry

Place the 30 g glycerine in a suitable mixing container.

Slowly sprinkle the 3 g Xanthan Gum into the glycerine while mixing until you have a smooth, lump-free slurry.

2. Hydrate the Xanthan

Place approximately 70–80% of the required distilled water into the main mixing vessel.

Slowly add the xanthan/glycerine slurry while mixing.

Allow the xanthan to hydrate completely before proceeding.

3. Add Lamesoft PO 65

Add 50 g Lamesoft PO 65 slowly and mix gently.

No heating is required.

4. Add the Glucosides

Add:

  • 150 g Lauryl Glucoside
  • 100 g Coco Glucoside
  • 100 g Decyl Glucoside

Add them slowly and mix gently.

Avoid high-speed mixing because glucosides can create considerable foam.

5. Add Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein

Add 20 g Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and mix gently until evenly distributed.

6. Add the Preservative

Add 10 g Euxyl PE 9010 and mix thoroughly.

7. Adjust the pH

Measure the pH with a calibrated pH meter.

Slowly add 20% Citric Acid Solution, mixing between additions, until the product reaches:

Target pH: 5.0–5.5

Do not add a predetermined amount of citric acid solution. Add it gradually according to the measured pH.

8. Bring to Final Weight

Add the remaining distilled water until the total batch weighs approximately:

1,000 g

Mix gently.

Allow the product to stand until excess air and foam have dissipated.

9. Final Check

Check the pH again after the product has settled.

The final pH should be:

5.0–5.5

Check the final weight and appearance before filling.

Preparing the 20% Citric Acid Solution

To make 100 g of solution:

  • Citric Acid — 20 g
  • Distilled Water — 80 g

Mix until completely dissolved.

Expected Product

This formulation produces a glucoside-based cleansing wash with:

  • Good cleansing and foaming properties
  • A conditioned skin feel from Lamesoft PO 65
  • Humectant properties from glycerine
  • Conditioning properties from Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein
  • Viscosity support from Xanthan Gum

The final viscosity may vary depending on the specific grades and active matter of the glucosides used.
