    Method

Step 1: Prepare the soap bases

Cut both soap bases into small, even cubes. Divide the clear base into two portions of 125 g each, and divide the white base into two portions of 125 g each.

Step 2: Melt the first gold layer

Melt 125 g of clear soap base gently in short microwave intervals, stirring between each interval. Do not allow it to boil. Stir in a small amount of gold mica suitable for melt & pour soap, followed by an appropriate portion of fragrance oil.

Step 3: Pour the first gold layer

Pour the gold soap into the mould. Lightly spray the surface with isopropyl alcohol if bubbles appear. Allow the surface to set sufficiently to support the next layer while remaining slightly warm.

Step 4: Prepare the first white layer

Melt 125 g of white soap base gently. Add an appropriate portion of fragrance oil and stir thoroughly. Allow it to cool slightly so it is warm and pourable, not excessively hot.

Step 5: Pour the white layer

Lightly score the surface of the first layer with a clean tool if needed. Spray a fine mist of isopropyl alcohol over it, then slowly pour the white soap over the back of a spoon to minimise disturbance. Allow it to set sufficiently.

Step 6: Add the second gold layer

Melt the remaining 125 g of clear soap base. Mix in gold mica and fragrance oil as appropriate. Lightly spray the previous layer with alcohol and gently pour the gold soap over it.

Step 7: Finish with the final white layer

Melt the remaining 125 g of white soap base. Add the remaining fragrance oil as appropriate. Lightly spray the gold layer with alcohol and carefully pour the final white layer.

    Step 8: Set and unmould

Allow the soap to cool and harden completely. Remove it gently from the mould. Wrap the finished bars once cool and dry to help protect them from moisture and glycerine sweating.

    Tips for Beautiful Layers

    • Allow each layer to set enough to support the next, but do not let it become completely cold if possible.
    • Keep each new layer warm and pourable, not hot enough to melt the layer beneath it.
    • Use only mica that is suitable for soap making.
    • Do not overheat the soap base, as this can cause bubbles and affect the finished appearance.
    • Fragrance oil quantities must be adjusted to the supplier’s safe usage guidance.
    • Use a mould that accommodates the total amount of soap.
