Laundry Washing Detergent Recipe

Looking to make your own liquid laundry soap? Here is a simple beginner-friendly recipe that works well for everyday washing. Ingredients (Makes Approx. 5 Litres)

• 100g washing soda (sodium carbonate)
• 50g borax (optional for extra cleaning power)
• 50–80ml liquid soap base or surfactant blend
• 30ml laundry-safe fragrance oil
• 4.5–5 litres warm water
• Preservative (recommended if storing longer than 2–4 weeks) Method:

  1. Add about 2 litres of warm water to your mixing container.
  2. Add washing soda slowly while stirring continuously until dissolved.
  3. Add borax if using and mix well.
  4. Add the liquid soap base or surfactant blend and stir gently to avoid excessive foam.
  5. Add the remaining water and mix thoroughly.
  6. Allow to cool completely.
  7. Add fragrance oil and preservative once cooled.
  8. Bottle and shake gently before use if needed.

Usage:

• Front loader: 50–100ml per load
• Top loader: 100–150ml per loadTips:

• More foam does not mean cleaner clothes.
• If the mixture feels too thin, slightly reduce water.
• Test on delicate fabrics first.
• Increase washing soda slightly if you have hard water.
