Laundry Washing Detergent Recipe
Looking to make your own liquid laundry soap? Here is a simple beginner-friendly recipe that works well for everyday washing. Ingredients (Makes Approx. 5 Litres)
• 100g washing soda (sodium carbonate)
• 50g borax (optional for extra cleaning power)
• 50–80ml liquid soap base or surfactant blend
• 30ml laundry-safe fragrance oil
• 4.5–5 litres warm water
• Preservative (recommended if storing longer than 2–4 weeks) Method:
- Add about 2 litres of warm water to your mixing container.
- Add washing soda slowly while stirring continuously until dissolved.
- Add borax if using and mix well.
- Add the liquid soap base or surfactant blend and stir gently to avoid excessive foam.
- Add the remaining water and mix thoroughly.
- Allow to cool completely.
- Add fragrance oil and preservative once cooled.
- Bottle and shake gently before use if needed.
Usage:
• Front loader: 50–100ml per load
• Top loader: 100–150ml per loadTips:
• More foam does not mean cleaner clothes.
• If the mixture feels too thin, slightly reduce water.
• Test on delicate fabrics first.
• Increase washing soda slightly if you have hard water.
