MAGNESIUM BATH & BODY RECIPES
How to Make Magnesium Oil (30% Solution)
Ingredients
300 g Magnesium Chloride Flakes
700 g Distilled Water
Method
Heat the distilled water to approximately 70–80°C (do not boil).
Slowly add the magnesium chloride flakes while stirring continuously.
Stir until all the flakes have completely dissolved and the solution is clear.
Allow the solution to cool to room temperature.
Pour into a clean spray bottle or storage bottle.
Shelf Life: Up to 12 months when stored in a clean, airtight container.
Note: Magnesium oil contains no oil. It is simply a concentrated solution of magnesium chloride that feels silky on the skin.
Magnesium Bath Flakes
Ingredients
500 g Magnesium Chloride Flakes
500 g Epsom Salt
Optional: 20–30 drops Lavender or Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Method
Mix all the ingredients together.
Add the essential oil if using and stir well.
Store in an airtight container.
Directions: Add 1–2 cups to a warm bath and soak for 20–30 minutes.
Magnesium Body Butter (100 g)
Ingredients
50 g Shea Butter
20 g Cocoa Butter
15 g Sweet Almond Oil
10 g Magnesium Oil
4 g Emulsifying Wax
1 g Vitamin E
20 drops Lavender Essential Oil
Method
Melt the shea butter, cocoa butter and emulsifying wax together.
Remove from the heat and stir in the sweet almond oil.
Allow the mixture to cool below 40°C.
Slowly whisk in the magnesium oil.
Add the vitamin E and lavender essential oil.
Fill into jars and allow to cool completely.
Magnesium Body Lotion (500 g)
Water Phase
340 g Distilled Water
50 g Magnesium Oil
20 g Glycerine
Oil Phase
35 g Sweet Almond Oil
25 g Shea Butter
25 g Emulsifying Wax
Cool Down Phase
2.5 g Preservative
2.5 g Fragrance or Essential Oil
Method
Heat the water phase and oil phase separately to 75°C.
Pour the oil phase into the water phase while blending.
Blend until smooth and creamy.
Cool the lotion below 40°C.
Add the preservative and fragrance.
Mix well and bottle.
Allow the lotion to stand for 24 hours before use.
Magnesium Foot Soak
Ingredients
500 g Magnesium Chloride Flakes
300 g Epsom Salt
150 g Sea Salt
50 g Baking Soda
20 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
15 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
Method
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
Store in an airtight container.
Directions: Add ½ cup to a basin of warm water and soak your feet for 20 minutes.
Magnesium Sleep Spray (250 ml)
Ingredients
250 ml Magnesium Oil
10 ml Witch Hazel (optional)
20 drops Lavender Essential Oil (optional)
Method
Pour the magnesium oil into a clean spray bottle.
Add the witch hazel and lavender essential oil if desired.
Shake gently before each use.
Directions: Spray onto the legs, feet or arms before bedtime. Avoid spraying onto broken or freshly shaved skin as a mild tingling sensation may occur.
Magnesium Bath Bombs
Ingredients
250 g Baking Soda
125 g Citric Acid
75 g Cornstarch
50 g Finely Ground Magnesium Chloride Flakes
20 g Sweet Almond Oil
10 ml Witch Hazel
Fragrance and colour as desired
Method
Mix all the dry ingredients together.
Add the sweet almond oil and fragrance.
Lightly spray with witch hazel while mixing until the mixture just holds together.
Press firmly into bath bomb moulds.
Leave to dry for 24 hours before removing from the moulds.
Tip: Magnesium chloride attracts moisture from the air, so always store products in airtight containers. For harder bath bombs with better fizz, replace part of the magnesium chloride with Epsom salt.
