Easy Hydrolysed Collagen Face Cream
This gentle, moisturising face cream is suitable for most skin types. Hydrolysed collagen helps improve skin feel and moisture retention, while glycerine attracts moisture to the skin.
Ingredients
Phase A – Water Phase
– Distilled Water – 73.5 g
– Vegetable Glycerine – 5.0 g
Phase B – Oil Phase
– Sweet Almond Oil – 10.0 g
– Olivem 1000 – 6.0 g
– Cetyl Alcohol – 2.0 g
Phase C – Cool Down Phase
– Hydrolysed Collagen – 2.0 g
– Vitamin E – 0.5 g
– Euxyl PE 9010 – 1.0 g
Total: 100 g
Method
1. Sanitise all equipment and containers.
2. Weigh the distilled water and glycerine into one heatproof beaker (Phase A).
3. Weigh the sweet almond oil, Olivem 1000, and cetyl alcohol into a second beaker (Phase B).
4. Heat both phases separately to 70–75°C until the Olivem 1000 has completely melted.
5. Pour the oil phase into the water phase while blending with a stick blender for 2–3 minutes.
6. Continue stirring occasionally as the cream cools.
7. When the cream has cooled to below 40°C, add the hydrolysed collagen, Vitamin E, and Euxyl PE 9010.
8. Mix thoroughly until smooth.
9. Check and adjust the pH to 5.0–5.5 if necessary.
10. Fill into clean, sanitised jars or airless pump bottles.
Shelf Life
When manufactured using good manufacturing practices and preserved with Euxyl PE 9010, the expected shelf life is approximately 12 months. Stability and preservative efficacy testing are recommended before commercial sale.
Notes
– Hydrolysed collagen is a water-soluble ingredient that helps improve skin hydration and leaves the skin feeling smoother and softer. It does not stimulate the skin’s natural collagen production.
– Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps protect the oils from oxidation. It is not a preservative.
– Always add the hydrolysed collagen and Euxyl PE 9010 below 40°C to maintain their effectiveness.
