Glycerine Melt & Pour Laundry Bar Soap
A simple laundry bar made using glycerine melt & pour soap base. This bar is suitable for hand washing clothes and helping to remove everyday dirt and stains.
Ingredients
- 900 g Glycerine Melt & Pour Soap Base
- 60 g Washing Soda (Sodium Carbonate)
- 30 g Sodium Bicarbonate
- 10 g Sodium Citrate
- 5–10 g Laundry-Safe Fragrance Oil (optional)
If using fragrance, reduce the soap base to 890–895 g so that the total batch remains 1 kg.
Method
- Cut the glycerine melt & pour soap base into small pieces.
- Place the soap base into a stainless-steel pot or suitable heat-resistant container.
- Melt gently using a double boiler or low heat. Do not boil or overheat the soap base.
- Once completely melted and fluid, remove from the heat.
- Sift together the washing soda, sodium bicarbonate and sodium citrate to remove any lumps.
- Add the powders gradually to the melted soap base, stirring continuously.
- Continue stirring until the powders are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- If using fragrance, allow the mixture to cool slightly and then add the fragrance. Mix thoroughly.
- Pour immediately into your chosen moulds.
- Leave the bars undisturbed until completely cool and firm.
- Unmould and allow the bars to stand uncovered for approximately 24 hours before packaging.
How to Use
Wet the laundry bar and rub it directly onto soiled areas of clothing. Work the soap into the fabric, then wash and rinse thoroughly.
For heavily soiled items, allow the soap to remain on the stain for a few minutes before washing.
Storage
Store the finished bars in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the bars wrapped or packaged once fully set to help protect them from humidity.
Note: Glycerine melt & pour soap can attract moisture from the air. Proper packaging is therefore recommended, especially in humid conditions.
